journey the curve
between flashpoints
beginning and end
of the taut chord that cuts
a small segment
from the circle that scribes
all existence
put strain to the climb
with determined deliberate
exertions of youth
take no pause risk no
backslide fend off
the distractions of ease
attain the sweet apogee
apex incarnate of purpose
rewarding with heights
giving outlook for survey
of past and of future
take stock of the present
step careful along
the declension
here sit surprises
the likes of which
rattle and ruin such plans
as were made on the rise
ride the arc
eyes open and earnest
appreciate having been
graced with God’s
intimate gift live it well
and we all three
may meet at the end
While I am not a great fan of ‘rap music’ generally when it is one well I believe it to be a rather clever genre. Aside from the fact your words are not colloquial the meter of this staggeringly brilliant poem would I think make for the best rap song in its short history! Basically I’m saying for title to poem ‘sublime’

I often feel a rhythmic music of sorts as I write – glad to know it sometimes comes through

Pinpointing an apogee, acknowledging a declension in life… decisions best made without conceding the value of the time that remains.

A rollercoaster of a ride, breathless at the end but exhilirated. Captured here, with a beaming smile.

As a painter that loves to put words to image, I very much love this post. Thank you always for sharing. Also- my husband is a seminary student and writes pretty interesting Bible based fiction. I talked him into posting. I think you’d really like him based on some things you’ve written- http://www.wispsofsmokeblog.wordpress.com
