Actually there’s a ‘third’ party in play: the media which is intent on forcing a 7th game 10th inning game`goes`to`the`winner conclusion . . . The whole thing is a comedy of fools!

What with the idiocy of Brexit in these parts and now the strangest (that’s me being ‘kind’) election ever in the US, we live in depressing times Paul. I find it hard to believe in that innovative, artistic great land of yours a giant of honour cannot be found this time around.

it’s a filthy game with little tolerance for honor

I understand the goal behind it, but that sounds highly restrictive. There comes a point when fairness begins to encroach on our freedoms.

freedom is already compromised by a political class in the grips of monied interests

Better compromised than legally taken.

believing as I do in my state motto, I couldn’t agree more – but what do you think would be “taken” by my proposal?

The rights and freedoms of the candidates? They’re people too.

oh my, you quite misunderstand the issue

To disagree with you, is not the same as misunderstanding. It’s arrogant to assume I must agree with you, if only I understand. We can agree to disagree and move on. Have a great week.

sorry you feel that way – the only arrogance is in presuming that it’s a good thing to keep on denying average non-monied citizens any viable path to become candidates for office – thanks for the dialogue

Lol. That has nothing to do with arrogance. I’m not the gate keeper. And neither did I presume anything. I merely disagreed with you.
Please note that I am not American, cannot vote, and do not partake in your politics. I’m just an innocent bystander with an opinion. Next time I’ll keep them to myself.

This election is not a good advertisement for democracy, so much anger and hate, it seems so un-American to me, so yesterday.

Here on the first-year anniversary of the ‘win,’ I’m left with the sad realization that this is indeed what and whom we have become–and already were, more than we’d like to admit. Exegeted and galvanized by a failure. It’s past time for a redo of our so-called democratic process. Your haiku is spot on.
